We offer a range of Copper post caps to protect your posts against rot; jack wraps to protect the base of your posts; railing wraps to complete and protect your railings, and copper door kickplates to add finish and protection to your doors.
Round, square or rectangular copper deck post caps prevent rot to your post tops by protecting the wood against the elements. This protection is the most cost-effective protection you can give your home.
To preserve your round deck posts, use one of two different styles: the Sedona, and the Tiara. Ask us about what we offer for square and rectangular deck posts. Protect your handrails with our railing wrap and hide the unsightly screw-jacks at the bottom of your posts with the copper jack-wrap cover.
Copper products do patina as they age and are exposed to the elements, developing into a beautiful antique finish over time, which will blend in with your log home decor.
To keep new copper shiny spray with a good lacquer. Keep the oils from your fingers and skin off of the copper, as they can cause discoloration. Vinegar and salt: Rub a mixture of 1 tablespoon of table salt and 1 cup of white vinegar onto the copper with a soft cloth and rinse. Or immerse the tarnished copper into a pot of 3 cups of water and the salt- vinegar mixture, bring to a boil and boil until the grime & tarnish comes off. Once the copper is cool, wash it with soap and water, rinse & rub with a soft cloth. Ketchup: a small amount of this condiment can be rubbed onto the copper to restore its natural luster, then rinse & dry.
Copper Patina Process
Natural copper changes from the shiny new copper look, to a darker rich antique-looking finish as it ages in the elements, this is called the Patina Process. Copper does not react with water but it does slowly react with atmospheric oxygen to form a layer of brown-black copper oxide which, unlike the rust which forms when the iron is exposed to moist air, protects the underlying copper from more extensive corrosion.
Copper caps preserve the value of your log home
As your new copper post caps are exposed to all the different outdoor elements, rain, snow, sun rays, etc., the patina process begins. Natural copper develops a rich darker color as the copper ages, going through a sometimes uneven spotty-ugly-duckling stage, that eventually develops into a dark rich patina, blending into your log decor.
The Patina process
As copper is exposed to the elements the look of the copper will change, developing into a beautiful patina that blends in with your log home decor.
Copper post caps have a greenish finish
The caps on this deck have a greenish colored Patina, in a drier climate this color happens more frequently than in a damp wet one.

How to clean copper ... naturally
Commercial copper cleaners often contain harsh chemicals, but you can naturally clean copper with materials usually already found in your home. Over time, air causes copper to tarnish or patina, many folks prefer the shiny new copper look. Tarnishing or the Patina process is a natural process, so it makes sense to use natural items to eliminate the dark, colored appearance. Commercial copper cleaners often contain harsh chemicals, but you can naturally clean copper with materials found in your home. Vinegar and salt: Rub a mixture of 1 tablespoon of table salt and 1 cup of white vinegar onto the copper with a soft cloth-next.
