You do, locally, and it has to be finished before anything arrives. It is the single most common reason a delivery date moves. Start the conversation with a local contractor before you order, not after.
How long does it take?
That depends far more on your permits and your local trades than on us. Owners who start the permit conversation early are the ones who build in the year they intended to.
What is the real number?
The kit price is the kit. Add foundation, roof covering, insulation, systems, interior finish, stain, labour and freight. Those are all local costs and they vary by more than the cabin does, which is why nobody can quote them from Wisconsin. Anyone who tells you a cabin kit is the whole cost is not doing you a favour.
How a cabin actually gets to you
A cabin kit does not arrive in a van. It arrives on flatbeds, and delivery is a real piece of the budget rather than a rounding error.
